Ivy Tech Community College will host a Spring IT Expo April 5 and 6 at the Downtown Indianapolis Campus. This two-day event welcomes students and faculty from across Indiana and will feature the second annual Statewide IT Challenge, Networking and Career Fair and Cisco Academy 20th Anniversary Conference.
The event will host more than 300 Ivy Tech students, including those in high school dual credit programs and 150 instructors from Ivy Tech, Ball State University and Vincennes University. It will also host 40 businesses and 16 IT Academy partnerships.
“The combination of competitions, job fair and conference is a great opportunity for students to get involved, gain experience and connect with employers,” said Matthew Cloud, project director for Ivy Tech’s School of Information Technology. “Instructors can also take advantage of premier training sessions while helping develop the pathways for IT in Indiana from kindergarten to higher education and employment.”
During the Statewide IT Challenge, students will compete in eight different competitions. Awards will be given out to first, second and third place winners in the following categories: network infrastructure, IT support, cyber security/information assurance, server administration, database management, software development, computer science and visual communications. Students competing will have a chance to win scholarships and other prizes.
Students are also invited to participate in the Networking and Career Fair on April 5, which will be a prime opportunity to connect with more than 45 employers.
The Spring IT Expo will also host the Cisco Academy 20th Anniversary Conference, “Securing IT Pathways in Indiana.” This conference will highlight a successful 20-year partnership between the Cisco Academy and Ivy Tech, as well as the integration of 15 other IT academies including Oracle, RedHat and EC Council. It will feature workshops, breakout sessions and other activities.
