Ivy Tech Community College has named Dr. Travis Haire to serve as chancellor of the Sellersburg campus, effective Monday, February 12.
Haire currently serves as deputy superintendent for the Greater Clark County Schools with a focus on college and career readiness skills, and the improvement of student achievement. In addition, his responsibilities include day-to-day operations of the district, and supervision of all aspects of facilities and ensuring building and grounds are properly maintained.
“I am honored to serve as chancellor of the Sellersburg campus,” said Haire. “The Sellersburg campus and local community have established a strong, dedicated team of internal and external stakeholders. I look forward to working with them as we all have a vested interest in seeing the students and workforce thrive.”
Haire’s career started at the Greater Clark County Schools as a high school social studies teacher and adult education instructor. He has held positions with Jeffersonville High School and River Valley Middle School in a variety of teaching positions. In 1998, he was named the assistant principal for student development at New Albany High School, launching his career into educational leadership and administration roles. In the last 12 years, Haire has held leadership positions with the Greater Clark County Schools including interim superintendent and assistant superintendent for leadership, prior to his current role.
“We are pleased that Travis is joining us to lead our efforts in the Sellersburg community,” Ivy Tech President Sue Ellspermann said. “His K-12 experience and collaboration with the Greater Clark industry will be a great asset as we implement our new strategic plan focused on student success and workforce alignment.”
Haire earned his Doctor of Education with a Ph.D. and Ed.S in Educational Leadership from Indiana State University. He earned his Masters of Arts in Education from Indiana University Southeast and his Bachelors of Arts in History from Hanover College.
Terry Nolot, who was serving as interim chancellor during the search process, will continue in his role as vice chancellor of enrollment services for the Sellersburg campus upon Haire’s arrival.
“We cannot thank Terry enough for leading our Sellersburg campus in this time of transition,” Ellspermann said. “He did a remarkable job to ensure our students and communities were served and his continued leadership at the campus will be important as we move forward.”
