INDIANAPOLIS – In its latest semi-annual Manufacturing and Logistics (M&L) Certification Index report, the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC) ranked Indiana No. 1 in MSSC certifications. The M&L Certification Index is a data-based resource for companies and state agencies to use when making decisions for new plant or distribution center locations.
The MSSC offers two certifications: Certified Production Technician (CPT) certification for manufacturing and Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) for distribution-logistics.
The report states that Indiana awarded 21,680 CPT and CLT credentials, and has 139 assessment centers.
Ivy Tech Community College helped Indiana achieve its top ranking through their 18 assessment centers. The College has embedded CPT certification into manufacturing degrees, which are built using stackable credentials. It is a model that gives students and employers options and flexibility to find specific skills and credentials.
In addition, Ivy Tech’s Workforce Alignment team provides training for CPT certifications in an accelerated 140 hour format through over 60 certified full- and part-time faculty members.
Since January 2017, Ivy Tech has awarded 16,861 of the state’s 19,988 CPT credentials and 803 of 1,692 CLT credentials.
“As an institution dedicated to helping Hoosiers get high-wage, in-demand jobs, Ivy Tech is proud to have helped Indiana achieve this accomplishment,” said Sue Ellspermann, president of Ivy Tech. “We look forward to helping the state continue to be a leader in MSSC certifications.”
