Ivy Tech Community College becomes Accredited Training Center for Ethical Hacking and Hacking Forensics certifications

INDIANAPOLIS – Ivy Tech Community College is partnering with The International Council of E-Commerce Consultants (EC-Council) as an Accredited Training Center (ATC), EC-Council’s most prominent partnership level. Through this partnership, Ivy Tech will offer Certified Ethical Hacker and Computer Hacking Forensics Investigator Certifications. EC-Council is a member-based organization widely known for offering the most challenging and recognized vendor neutral Cyber Security certifications globally.

Both certifications, Certified Ethical Hacker and Computer Hacking Forensics Investigator, will be offered within the College’s Cyber Security/Information Assurance program starting this summer and fall semester at a significantly reduced cost to students. Ivy Tech will also be offering non-credit courses through Workforce Alignment which can lead to college credit upon passing.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with EC-Council to offer these cutting-edge IT certifications,” said Matt Etchison, vice president for information technology at Ivy Tech Community College. “Jobs in the IT industry are in high demand across the state, and Ivy Tech is continuing to stay at the forefront to keep up with the growing demand in the workforce.”

There are an average of 629 annual job openings in cyber security and information assurance in Indiana according to the 2014-2024 DWD/BLS Occupational Demand Report. Certified Ethical Hackers are able to find weaknesses and vulnerabilities in target systems and use the same skills as a malicious hacker, but in a lawful and helpful manner to assess the security of a target system. Computer Hacking Forensic Investigators work with police, government and corporate entities to help solve crimes through the gathering and analysis of cyber evidence.

This announcement comes the same month as the announcement of Ivy Tech becoming an Authorized Android™ Training Center, offering an Android Developer certification.
