INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Ivy Tech Community College and Allison Transmission announced a new partnership through the Community College’s Achieve Your Degree program. The Achieve Your Degree program will provide guidance and financial assistance to any Allison Transmission employee interested in pursuing an education at Ivy Tech Community College.
The program allows Allison Transmission employees to avoid up-front out of pocket tuition expenses when they utilize the company’s Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) benefit. Ivy Tech will assist Allison Transmission employees with the college and financial aid application process, and will defer billing until the end of the semester, ensuring students take advantage of any financial aid opportunities in which they qualify. Onsite application assistance and academic advising are provided by Ivy Tech faculty and staff in order to accommodate busy work schedules and ensure appropriate course schedules, including an onsite enrollment event on April 6.
“Allison and its UAW leadership have a long history of investing in the education and development of our workforce,” said William Turner, director of education and development for Allison Transmission. “We are excited to partner with Ivy Tech and offer both our UAW and salaried employees with the opportunity to earn a degree or enhance their skills.”
The Achieve your Degree program is open to all Allison Transmission employees, and they can begin taking classes during the summer 2017 semester. Ivy Tech offers more than 150 degree and certificate options, including Industrial Technology, Advanced Automation and Robotics Technology, and Mechanical Engineering Technology.
“We are pleased to be partnering with Allison Transmission, a great Indianapolis-based company that knows the value in investing in their workforce,” said Dr. Kathleen Lee, chancellor of Ivy Tech Community College Central Indiana. “Through the Achieve Your Degree program, Ivy Tech seeks to help local employers develop talent and strengthen our workforce.”
