INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Ivy Tech Community College is the recipient of the Best Self-Service Analytics Award by Gartner, Inc. through their 2016 Gartner Data & Analytics Excellence Awards. The awards recognize excellence in data and analytics technology to drive best-in-class initiatives.
According to Gartner, “Six winners and 12 finalists were chosen from a pool of 152 submissions across all six categories. While the criteria were different for each category, all submissions were assessed by a team of Gartner analysts, and honorees were selected by benchmarking against world-class performance standards. Gartner looked for submissions with a strong organizational and leadership component, effective use of modern technologies, and most of all clear business outcomes.”1
Ivy Tech Community College has coupled innovative strategies for cloud-based data warehousing with curated data collections, integrated data dictionaries and interactive, in-the-moment analytics to create a self-service analytics system that is driving strong adoption within the college.
“We are thrilled to be recognized by Gartner with this award,” said Brendan Aldrich, chief data officer, Ivy Tech Community College. “Our ‘data democracy’ approach is now directly helping thousands of administrators, faculty and staff across the state intuitively use data to find key insights, improve operations, and support student success.”
Ivy Tech’s system powers analytics across all of its organizational domains within the College using a clean, intuitive, web-based and mobile-friendly user interface where users can simply drag-and-drop data elements into existing templates to report, graph and dashboard information without the need for additional assistance from IT or a special analytics team.
“Ivy Tech is committed to fostering innovation and it is an incredible honor to receive this award from such a recognized leader in information technology research,” said Lige Hensley, chief technology officer, Ivy Tech Community College. “The groundbreaking data technology we’ve created is providing us with an unprecedented ability to help advance the mission of the college.”
The best practices of the winners will be highlighted in the opening keynote of the 2017 Gartner Data & Analytics Summits which will be held in Sydney, Grapevine, Texas, London, Tokyo, Mumbai, and Sao Paulo, Brazil.
