INDIANAPOLIS — Ivy Tech Corporate College and the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) have partnered to create a streamlined process for Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) exams.
Previously a paper-based exam, Ivy Tech and ISDH worked collaboratively to convert the exam into a computer-based format.
The new computer-based exam will be offered through Ivy Tech’s Certification and Workforce Assessment Centers beginning this month. Initially, computer-based exams will be delivered to candidates required only to take the written portion of the exam. Ivy Tech anticipates administering more than 1,400 computer-based CNA exams per year.
“Moving these exams to an electronic platform allows us to provide greater customer service to our testing candidates,” said Terry Whitson, Assistant Commissioner, Health Care Quality and Regulatory Commission, Indiana State Department of Health. “It will allow for faster scoring at the test center and ultimately faster placement of candidates on the State’s registry.”
Ivy Tech’s Certification and Workforce Assessment Centers are located at 25 Ivy Tech campuses and are designed to validate skills by providing Indiana residents with an opportunity to earn portable third-party, industry-recognized credentials. The Centers deliver more than 150,000 certification exams and employment-related assessments annually.
“We’re very pleased to be able to partner with ISDH to improve the testing experience for CNAs and make the testing more accessible,” said Brian Hamilton, Executive Director of Certification and Workforce Assessment at Ivy Tech. “This is a great example of using the expertise we have available through our Certification Centers to assist clients in becoming even more efficient and effective.”
