Ivy Tech Community College students transferring at a greater rate

New data provided by the National Clearinghouse confirms more than 30,000 students transfer 

INDIANAPOLIS – New data provided by the National Student Clearinghouse determined that a greater number of Ivy Tech Community College students are utilizing transfer agreements to further their education not only at in-state public colleges, but numerous private and out-of-state colleges.

A total of 180,226 students were enrolled in Ivy Tech courses during the 2012-13 school year, of which 26,752 students transferred just courses, while 3,882 students transferred a credential or degree – a total of 30,584 students for 2012-13.

The new data from the National Student Clearinghouse allows Ivy Tech to measure its reach beyond in-state, public institutions.

“In previous years, we only had data on students transferring to in-state, public colleges and universities. This new data from the National Student Clearinghouse confirms Ivy Tech has a greater number of students utilizing the transfer option with a far greater reach across the country,” said Thomas J. Snyder, President of Ivy Tech Community College. “Not only are these students furthering their education, but they are saving thousands of dollars on the cost of their education by starting their educational career at Ivy Tech.”

In addition, Ivy Tech estimates that for every 1,000 students that complete an associate degree before transferring the state of Indiana and taxpayers save nearly $14 million.
