WASHINGTON, DC – Ivy Tech Community College President Thomas J. Snyder testified today at the House Committee on Ways and Means regarding the impact of the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) employer mandate, which defines full-time employment as 30 hours per week for the purposes of applying the employer mandate. Snyder testified in the Longworth House Office Building in Washington, DC.
Five individuals were chosen to provide testimony at today’s committee meeting. Snyder was joined by a broad cross section of industries affected by the rule.
The hearing focused on the ACA requirement that employers with more than 50 full-time employees (FTEs) offer health coverage to their workers in excess of 30 hours. Community colleges routinely employ thousands of part-time adjunct faculty members to supplement instruction performed by full-time faculty members along with bringing real-time experience to the classroom.
