INDIANAPOLIS – Enrollment in Ivy Tech Community College’s new cohort program, Ivy Institute of Technology, continues to grow.  The program has grown to 74 students, an increase of over 200 percent from its launch in October 2011.  In addition 92 percent of the students that started in the program in October are still enrolled today.

The Ivy Institute of Technology is a group of programs focusing on the skills and knowledge required for industries where jobs are in high demand.  The program prepares students for entry-level or mid-level employment in the areas of Welding, Machine Tool Technology, or Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.  The program can be completed in just 8 months.

The Ivy Institute programs are technology-focused and rely on integrated lab activities to teach class material and prepare students for jobs in their area of study.  The programs focus on the skills and technology for each field while building math, reading and writing exercises into the course material.

Each institute is a 30-week program that meets for six hours per day, five days per week.  At the end of the course, students will take exams for industry certifications.  Students can also use their credits to continue their education in pursuit of an Associate’s Degree or Technical Certificate at Ivy Tech.  The Welding Institute is offered in Terre Haute, Anderson and Richmond.  The Machine Tool Technology Institute is offered in Indianapolis and South Bend.  The HVAC Institute is offered in Sellersburg.
