SELLERSBURG – Ivy Tech will be offering OSHA certification for businesses in a two-day course in June. This course is ideal for supervisors with safety and health responsibilities, and for employee safety and health awareness. Students will be introduced to OSHA policies, procedures and standards as well as general industry safety and health principles covered in OSHA Act Part 1910. Special emphasis will be placed on areas most hazardous using OSHA general industry standards as a guide.
The class will be offered on June 8 and June 9 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $225 per person.

- Introduction to OSHA
- Walking and working surfaces
- Means of egress and fire protection
- Electrical
- Flammable and combustible liquids
- Personal protective equipment
- Machine guarding
- Hazard communication
- Introduction to industrial hygiene/ blood borne pathogens
- Health and safety programs
Upon successful completion of this course, the trainee will receive their OSHA 10-hour general industry training certificate. A course completion card will be sent to participants by mail after it is processed by OSHA.
The classes will be held in Ogle Hall, Ivy Tech main campus, 8204 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Ind.

Lean Sigma Green Belt course
The Lean Sigma Green Belt certification course will prepare students to identify, charter, facilitate, implement, and maintain Lean Sigma projects of small to medium scope. In this course, students will learn basic statistics, facilitation skills, brain-storming methods, project management, and waste reduction techniques. Each student will select and complete a work-related project as they progress through the course with the instructor serving as a mentor and coach. Upon completion of the Lean Sigma Green Belt course, the participants will have the skills and experience to become change agents for their respective employers, eliminating waste and reducing variation in their everyday work environment.
This course will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. beginning on June 2 and ending on August 9for a total of 40 hours. The class will be held in Ogle Hall at the main Ivy Tech campus, 8204 Highway 311, in Sellersburg. Cost is $2,500 per participant.
