SELLERSBURG – The statewide competition of Business Professionals of America was held at Ivy Tech Community College Southern Indiana March 4 through 6. Contestants came from all areas of the state including Lafayette, Terre Haute and Evansville to compete in business and technology competitions.

Ivy Tech Community College Southern Indiana students earned four first place awards and placed in several other events.

The award winners are:

• Amy Tomey of Salem won a first place award in federal income tax accounting concepts.
• William Pullen of Scottsburg won a first place award computer network technology and network administration using Microsoft.
• Michael Veach of Jeffersonville won a second place award in banking and finance.
• Carolyn Greenman of New Albany won a second place award in federal income tax accounting concepts.
• Elizabeth Bruce of Corydon won a third place award in interview skills.
• John Greenman of New Albany won a fourth place award in extemporaneous speech.

In addition, Katarina Lynch, a current Indiana University Southeast student who is an alumnae of Ivy Tech, competed with the team and one first place in Advanced Interview Skills. She lives in Floyds Knobs.

The group will travel to Washington, D.C., in May to participate in the National Leadership Conference where they will participate in skills competitions with college students from around the country.
