INDIANAPOLIS – Ivy Tech Community College and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) are partnering to offer a series of workforce training courses for professionals in the HR field. These three courses will begin this month, and are designed for managers and staff with experience in general management or human resource management looking to upgrade their skills. Prepared by subject matter experts, these courses include application exercises that develop and enhance specific competencies and decision-making skills.

The courses include the SHRM Learning System preparation courses for the Professional in Human Resources (PHR)/Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) and Essentials of HR Management.

SHRM Learning System Professional in Human Resources (PHR)/Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR):

• The course meets on Thursdays, February 17-May 5, from 6-9 p.m.
• The cost is $1,299.
• Designed to provide an overview of key areas in HR management as it prepares participants to sit for the PHR/SPHR certification exams.
• Materials used will include six modules that correspond to the six functional areas, responsibilities and associated knowledge as defined by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).
• For those not interested in a traditional classroom setting, the SHRM Learning System is also offered in a self-study format for the same cost.
• The location is the International Medical Group, located at 2960 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis.

Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR):

• The course meets on Wednesdays, February 23-May 11, from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
• The cost is $1,299.
• Designed for anyone with international and cross-border responsibilities or who is interested in earning the GPHR certification.
• Covers content that corresponds with the GPHR body of knowledge, including legislation from the United States, European Union, United Kingdom, Canada, India and China.
• The location is at Ivy Tech Community College-Lawrence campus.

Essentials for HR Management:

• The course meets on Saturdays, February 19-26, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
• The cost is $379.
• Designed for those who hire, train, evaluate and manage employees.
• The course provides an overview of the functions of a human resource professional and how to handle several HR challenges.
• The location is the International Medical Group, located at 2960 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis.
