IUPUI will offer up to $3,000 to Indiana Community College graduates through scholarship

IUPUI will offer a new scholarship worth up to $3,000 to Indiana community college graduates who earn an Associate’s degree with at least a 3.3 grade point average.

Community college graduates with a 3.3 GPA who transfer to IUPUI within a year of receiving their Associates degree will receive a renewable $1,500 Passport to IUPUI Scholarship. The scholarship covers four semesters of education at IUPUI for a total of $3,000.

IUPUI Chancellor Charles R. Bantz announced the scholarship today when he delivered his Report to The Community at the Campus Center.

“Increasing the number of baccalaureate degree holding adults is a key goal for IUPUI and the state of Indiana,” Bantz said. “The Passport to IUPUI Scholarship will provide help for students to earn a baccalaureate degree and improve their future while contributing to Indiana’s future.”

The Passport to IUPUI Scholarship is designed to motivate students to complete their associates’ degree and pursue a baccalaureate degree by helping them pay for it.

“More Ivy Tech students transfer to IUPUI than any other school in Indiana. Currently, nearly 1,500 Ivy Tech students transfer to IUPUI each year,” said Ivy Tech Community College President Thomas J. Snyder. “We thank IUPUI and Chancellor Bantz for this generous contribution to our students and partnering with the community college to help create a seamless education system for all Hoosiers ”

By motivating students to complete a two-year degree and a baccalaureate, the Passport to IUPUI Scholarship will help raise the number of Hoosiers with a four-year college degree, an important goal for Indiana’s economic development efforts. The scholarship also strengthens IUPUI’s commitment to partner with two year colleges in Indiana to help students succeed.

“Vincennes University is excited to be a partner with IUPUI in providing students with a passport to a successful and productive future through this innovative program,” Dr. Ronald M. Davis, Provost, Vincennes University. “Providing opportunities for successful students to continue their educational experience to a bachelor’s degree and beyond is a sound investment for the student and for the State of Indiana.”

Available to all Indiana residents who earn an Ivy Tech or Vincennes University Associate’s degree with at least a 3.3 grade point average, the scholarship is renewable if the student maintains a grade point average of at least 3.0 at IUPUI and is continuously enrolled full-time in an IUPUI campus-based program.

Deadline for IUPUI admission application and scholarship eligibility is May 15th for fall admission and November 15th for spring admission.
